스마트폰에서 구매와 결제가 가능한 시흥시 지역화폐 ‘모바일시루’가 출시 2주만에 판매액 10억원, 앱 설치 8,500명, 사용처 3,000곳을 돌파했다.
시흥시의 모바일시루는 전국 최초의 스마트폰 앱 기반 간편결제 지역화폐로 관심이 집중됐으며 도입 초기 이같은 성과를 바탕으로 지난해 9월 지류(종이) 시흥화폐 시루 도입에 이어 성공적인 데뷔를 하고 있는 것으로 평가된다.
모바일시루는 사용자가 스마트폰으로 가맹점에 설치된 QR키트를 스캔하면 결제가 이뤄지는 ‘QR 결제방식’으로 최근 전 세계적으로 확산 추세를 보이고 있다.
시흥시청 관계자는 “국내에서는 아직 생소한 결제방식이어서 사용자와 가맹점 모두 초기 사용이 쉽지 않을 것으로 예상했으나 시민과 가맹점의 적극적인 동참과 행정의 홍보 노력으로 순조롭게 출발했다”고 밝혔다.
아울러 “기간제 근로자 등을 통해 가맹점의 모바일시루 QR키트 설치 지원을 계속 진행하고 있다”며 “최대한 빠른 시일 내 현재 5,114개 시루 가맹점에서 모바일시루 결제가 가능하도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 설명했다. 모바일시루 사용처는 시루 홈페이지(www.si-ru.kr) 에서 확인할 수 있다.
한편 시흥시는 오는 4월부터 경기도 거주 3년 이상 만 24세 청년에게 1년간 100만원씩 지원하는 청년배당과 산후조리지원비를 모바일시루로 지급한다. 지급규모는 약 70억원이다.
